I dropped my phone in between the gaps in the boards of my neighbor’s front porch. It slipped through my fingers while I was Googling how many gigabytes of the human brain contains.

WRITER HIGHLIGHTS

Grajaú

Gabi Ragazzi is one of the reasons that my newsletter and many of my publications even exist. They are my editor for much of my work, and I return the favor. Their piece “Grajaú”, published on Swamp Pink, is a wretchedly beautiful work of creative nonfiction. I re-read it every now and then, and each time, I feel like more of the piece is peeling off of the wallpaper and into my mind.

Charlotte Sees Green Clouds

I have the privilege of being a bandmate, roommate, and fellow writer with MJ Dean. She is a brilliantly talented poet. Her insights into the creative process help me sort through the muck and find a clear picture of the stories I want to tell. Her poem “Charlotte Sees Green Clouds” is available in the RHINO 2025 collection. Grab a copy and thank me later.

JNP RECOMMENDS

Hopefulessness

Evan Herrin is a fantastic friend, photographer, and blogger. His writings on Hopefulessness are full of care and love. The photographs on my website and my newsletter were all taken by Evan, too!

The Greenhouse

Caleb Green and I pretend to be wizards together. A lot. When he isn’t rolling dice with me, Caleb writes speculative fiction as well, and he is a fantastic storyteller. He hangs out with me in the realms of dark fantasy and horror.

Not Spam

Carly Travis is one of my funniest friends, and the best part is that she knows she’s funny and enjoys sharing her wit with the rest of the world. You can find her on stage, but you can also find her jokes, life lessons, and memoirs on her newsletter “Not Spam.” It isn’t spam, but it’s also not not spam, you know?
