The Arcana series is a collection of writings inspired by the tarot. It is exclusively published as a part of my monthly newsletter, so if you are interested, go sign up now!
I should start by clarifying that I know little-to-none about the tarot deck, the cards, or the myriad of spiritual practices that accompany them. I found a beautiful old deck in a thrift store for $8 USD, and I have always been a lover of strange, old, worn things, so I couldn’t pass it up.
Each month, I shuffle the deck and pull a single card, then I take to Google to find out what that card is supposed to mean. I let my imagination take over form there to write a small piece inspired by the card’s artwork and the intended meaning.
The most important rule for the Arcana series is that there are no rules! Sometimes, I am inspired to write poetry, and others, I write prose. Sometimes, the things I write are pretty close to the symbolic meaning of the card, and other times they are much more loosely inspired. I started using the tarot deck as a way to warm up my mind before moving on to my bigger projects, but now, I get to share these little excersizes with all of you via the newsletter.
I hope you enjoy reading these little trinkets as much as I enjoy writing them. Feel free to write along with me if you are so inspired, and be sure let me know if you do! Happy reading!
